Funeral Guidelines and Fees

The first step to take when planning a funeral liturgy is to contact our parish priest. If you need assistance in the planning or arranging of a funeral or memorial catholic service, please feel free to contact Fr. Jorge Hernandez, ofm at (415) 863-0111 ext. 106.

Funerals are normally held at 12:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday, or by a special arrangement depending on the priest or church availability.

The Funeral Mass can be celebrated with either the body or ashes. Another option is a memorial Mass or service with no body or remains present.

During the liturgy, we urge family members or friends (maximum 3) to share a eulogy or some type of tribute with the rest of the participants towards the end of the liturgy. However, time is limited, and we ask that you prepare a one or two page written text before the funeral service takes place. We ask you to take no more than 3 to 4 minutes per participant.

We welcome the display of photographs and or memorabilia at the entrance of the church. A single framed portrait may be displayed on an easel near the altar.  We welcome flower arrangements as part of the funeral celebration. You are welcome to take them back with you or leave them at the church after the funeral. In many cases, the funeral homes will make any necessary arrangements of bringing and taking the flowers at the end of the liturgy.
